Sukhoi Su-47 (S-37) Berkut Supersonic Jet Fighter

The Sukhoi Su-47 Berkut (Russian: Су-47 "Беркут" - golden eagle), also designated S-32 and S-37 during initial development, is an experimental supersonic jet fighter developed by Sukhoi Aviation Corporation. The NATO reporting name for this aircraft is "Firkin". A distinguishing feature of the aircraft is its forward-swept wing, similar to that of the Grumman X-29. Although the Berkut has been referred to as the Su-47 since 2002, suggesting that it is a ready-for-production warplane, it will more likely be heavily redesigned (as part of the Prospective Air Complex for Tactical Air Forces program) before any series production begins. The Su-47 designation may or may not be reused for the PAK FA design.

Hey dude... You say the Eagle holds a record. But this is only in the US book of records! I am sure you'll find some F 15 going down on their own on youtube... Ergo they don't even have to go in battle to loose it! They have lost the battle on youtube! Sorry mate no hard feelings!

No such thing as the best? How about the fact the Eagle holds the record as the only fighter NEVER to lose an air to air fight? Can the Ruskies top that? The US has taken on everything from the MiG15 to the Su27 and leads in the kill loss ratio. As for the MiG1.44, it isn't in production and probably won't be, considering Russias economy. Besides, it looks like a crappy copy of the Eurofighter Typhoon.

The Su-47 is an awesome aircraft, second probably only to the MiG-1.44. Well, i don't know, they're both good. No one abuse Russian aircraft, they're advanced, capable of taking on any fighter, I don't care what America says. The US has some good aircraft, but they're not invincible. France and Britain and China have some excellent designs as well. Also, their is no such thing as the best aircraft. Air warfare comes down to tactics, good aircraft help, but don't ensure victory.

Awesome, an intelligent comment. The Su-47 is the best, for now. The PAK FA will hopefully be better, it is developed from the Su-47.

The Su-47 wasn't a fighting plane at all. It was a technology demonstrator built on the chassis of the Su-27 and only two were ever built. The American Forward-Swept-Wing design (the X-29, built 12 years before the Su47) was also a non-combat technology demonstrator. Neither country considered the FSW design suitable for mass production.

The Mig 23 and the F-15 are not similar. You're probably thinking of the Mig 29 which looks very similar to the F-15 but went into service 6 years after the F-15.

just saying, i dont think nations put bad pilots in the seats of their best jets, they save those seats for their aces, so i doubt any newbie would be flying any high caliber plane into battle
