Fifty Percent Grey won Best Short Animated Film at the London Effects and Animation festival and was shown in the Sundance Film Festival. It's also one of 10 films under consideration for the best short Animated Film Oscar.

Comment part 3 of 3: As for the TV as a method of delivery and the gun as the weapon of choice. I think people are reading into it too much. I think a soldier is just an easy stereotype so we don't question why he has a gun or how he died. We already have a basic idea.

Comment part 2 of 3 : The difference being that those who are in heaven believe they are in the best situation and are happy. Those in purgatory believe they aren't experiencing the best life but have the comfort of knowing that they're not in hell. And those in hell think they have the worst situation and that others in purgatory and heaven have a much better time of it. Or you can look at it all as hell.

I think this can be taken on different levels and that's the point. It can be simple and just one big set up for a joke, albeit black humour. *spoiler if you haven't watched it yet* You can look at it as a view of the afterlife stating that there is little difference between them.
