This clip gives us a rare and wonderful look at Spike Jones hilarity, with the added delight of seeing Mickey Katz (the short, bald guy playing clarinet) goofing around with the band and even doing his trademark "glugg-glugg". Mickey went on from there to write his Yiddish parodies and the rest is history,

I almost didn't recognise 'Dr McCoy' he had a bit more meat on his bones then ... hee hee :) This song made me laugh out loud, and 'Katherine' must have been fantastic not to laugh or crack up whist filming this sketch ..:)

lol, and people say that black folk cannot be racist because they are black. that's unfortunate. LDF, keep your racism to yourself. maybe listening to a little marvin gaye and chaka khan will make you pause with humility at true talent, which at this time, cannot be replicated by the current crop of performers.

Someone once on a radio show about Spike Jones remembered that in his stage show for a while he would have a girl come out and sit on one side of the stage and knit all through the craziness. People would wonder what she was doing there and what she was ever going to do, and all she did was knit. I think I saw her once in a Spike video knitting, but haven't seen her on Tube yet.
